“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Jam â€1:5‬
- Wisdom is a capacity of the mind; in the OT it involves both knowledge and the ability to direct the mind toward a full understanding of human life and toward its moral fulfillment. Wisdom is thus a special capacity, necessary for full human living, but one which can be acquired through education and the application of the mind. [1]
- Lack of wisdom – people don’t know what to do next. It is natural that people need wisdom so they can seek God for wisdom.
- Wisdom is from God – not from education; Yes, education helps to gain knowledge; still, on many occasions, wisdom from education can not help. So we need godly wisdom. Wisdom helps to use the knowledge in a time of need.Â
- God’s promise is He generously lavishes the wisdom to those who ask/pray to Him. (Solomon – 1 Kings 3:9-28, Daniel 1:17, David Ps 51:6, Jer 29:12)
- God is generous, and when He adds generous wisdom to those who ask Him without a doubt.
- “without finding fault” – God can forgive your past, and He is so gracious to lavish His wisdom for those who humble and ask Him.
- God is the source of wisdom (Job 32:8, Pro 2:3-6)
- Wise men always seek God (Pro 8:17)
