Wisdom from God

Wisdom from God

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Jam ‭1:5‬

  • Wisdom is a capacity of the mind; in the OT it involves both knowledge and the ability to direct the mind toward a full understanding of human life and toward its moral fulfillment. Wisdom is thus a special capacity, necessary for full human living, but one which can be acquired through education and the application of the mind. [1]
  • Lack of wisdom – people don’t know what to do next. It is natural that people need wisdom so they can seek God for wisdom.
  • Wisdom is from God – not from education; Yes, education helps to gain knowledge; still, on many occasions, wisdom from education can not help. So we need godly wisdom. Wisdom helps to use the knowledge in a time of need.
  • God’s promise is He generously lavishes the wisdom to those who ask/pray to Him. (Solomon – 1 Kings 3:9-28, Daniel 1:17, David Ps 51:6, Jer 29:12)
  • God is generous, and when He adds generous wisdom to those who ask Him without a doubt.
  • “without finding fault” – God can forgive your past, and He is so gracious to lavish His wisdom for those who humble and ask Him.
  • God is the source of wisdom (Job 32:8, Pro 2:3-6)
  • Wise men always seek God (Pro 8:17)
